Day 60

Well, here it is, day 60 post transplant, or somewhere around day 60.  The doctors have always told me that I would have my good days and bad days, but I had been progressing so well that I didn’t think I would have any bad days.  From day 30-50 I had been progressing so well, I even rode my bike (not very far), but I ended up crashing in front of my house as I got real dizzy and blacked out.  I was pretty upset as I put the first scuff on my bike.   The past 7-10 days have been a constant decline in my health and fatigue.  I feel like I’m back at day 25.  On Thursday night I finally called the afterhours line, and on Friday I had to go in for 2 liters of IV fluids.  I’m hoping the bad days are over and that I’ll begin progressing again soon.

    Hey, Tim -
Thanks for the message…hope you didn’t hurt the bike too much??? Thank God you were near home and not on that dreaded Karcher Rd when you blacked out!!!
We all know you’re raring to go (we want you to be!), but keep listening to your body, ok? You’ll get stronger, have stronger days, be stronger…so…THINK Strong and LIVE Strong (someone should trademark that!)!!! :)

    Love you,
    Mike & Judy

    Tim,
Darrell now understands feeling wiped out and he does not like it much either. We continue to pray for your complete recovery.

  3. What a bummer- I can’t imagine…not feeling like you are getting better and then a big ole scuff on your bike! I only had the chemo and radiation but had and continue to have a very rough time realizing that my body is just not as strong as it was before my cancer- running is still hard ( I keep waiting for that day where I just go out and jog 4 miles like I used to and feel so refreshed during and after). I don’t mean to discourage in any way, I just know that I have good friends and running buddies that gently remind me of where God has brought me when I get down on myself for not being where I think I should be. It is tough for people like us that have always been really active and able to do just about anything if we set our minds to it. I will be praying specifically for strength for you- emotionally, physically, and spiritually. love you, Sara

  4. Hey Tim,
Thanks for the update…. sounds like a really rough past 7-10 days :/ It must be really hard to in your mind and will be ready and wanting to work hard physically and get stronger and then for your body to say, nope… time to feel weaker. The illustration that came to mind for me was to have the heart of a lion but to feel like you’ve been crammed in and stuck in a turtle’s body! Ugh, I have a small understanding of that from being injured in track and my body telling me I needed to rest and heal while my will was like, let’s get the move on… I’m ready to jump 45 feet! Praying for you during this time, that your body will get the rest, recuperation and care that it needs and that you will be able to entrust your mind and will to the Lord… that you will not be discouraged but find and have hope in Him during this phase in your journey.
    Sarah

  5. Hi Tim,
Sorry to hear about your set back. Please continue to get well. It is so good to have you back playing the drums at church!

  6. Okay so a picture of the bike – not good but what about the rider – where’s the picture of yours “scuff” marks??? Praying that your setbacks are now HISTORY!!! You are amazing!!!

  7. Tim! Thank you so much for an update. Vivian and I were just talking about it on Sunday. I am sorry to hear about the setback that you have had these past couple of weeks. I am praying for you (and the bike :) ). Continue to take time to heal and God will give you patience, you have already been patient through this process. I did find it funny that you were concerned about your bike and not about you passing out and falling off of it… Keep updating!

  8. Good to hear the bike wasn’t hurt too bad! No, seriously, we are glad you were not hurt. Sorry to hear that you have been not feeling as well as you would like. Todd is on about day 115. I have noticed he has had some days where he is more tired than others. He has dropped a few pounds again so he is supposed to try Ensure and eat a LOT of calories, but his appetite in the a.m. is not great. He still has some nausea in the a.m.. His dad passed away 1 week ago from cancer, that has been pretty tough. We will continue to keep you in our prayers – God has amazing plans still ahead for you both! Tell your mom hi and to hang in there- I know as a mom we always worry. love Wanda

  9. Good morning Tim. I didn’t know the details when you told me at church that you had a set-back this last week but now I do.
We are praying for you this morning and we want to encourage you in the Lord.
    Stewart says:
Well Tim I hope you continue on getting better. I hope you can get rid of this cancer once for all. I pray for you every day, I’ll see you soon
    Ed says:

Dear Tim, sorry for the set-back. Psalm 27:5 says: For in time of trouble He shall hide me, He shall set me upon a rock.
We will see you Sunday, glad you are back on drums. All of us are praying for you.
    Jim says:
Psalm145: says,”The Lord sustains all who fall”
    Funny right!!
It also says the He raises up all who are bowed down. I learned a phrase that says no matter what the question at least part or all of the answer is humility. God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Stay humble before Him as He is the dipenser of grace and mercy. I love you and will pray for you daily before His throne of mercy.
Be strong and courageous for the Lord thy God is with thee.
    Blessings brother.

  10. Hey Timber,
Glad to hear your update. I was wondering if I was going to have to come out to Idaho and check up on you. I and my Bible study group are praying for your renewed strength and most importantly that you do not become discouraged when you body decides to take a few days off.

    Love,

    Aunt Joyce
