Who would have ever thought that I would have a blog. I’m not even really sure what I’m supposed to say on this thing, but I’ll give it a shot…
The purpose of this site is to inspire and bring hope to those that need it. Whether you’re fighting Hodgkins along with me, another cancer, or something completely different, my hope is that my story will inspire and bring hope to you that you can continue to LIVESTRONG. None of us knows the number of our days, so we must live today like it were our last.
I was born to be an athlete. Throughout my life I practiced through blood, sweat, and tears to become a successful athlete, but on February 9, 2009 I found that I was in a fight I was unprepared for.
3 weeks before my 26th birthday I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Over the next 5 months I flew to Seattle every other week for chemo treatments. On July 15, I had finished my last round of chemo and was considered in remission. I had beaten Cancer! The chemo took a huge toll on my body, and I soon realized that it would be a long time before I would recover from the harsh treatments. My goal was to finish a triathlon in one year. So I bought a bike and began slowly training as my body allowed. In November 2009 I had a scan in preparation for my regular quarterly follow up visit. The week of Thanksgiving, I received a call from my doctor stating the cancer has returned. That’s where I am now. At this point the score is Tim-1 Cancer-0, and I’m fighting with everything I’ve got to go 2-0.
—update—
After 2 rounds of ICE chemotherapy in December 2009 I was declared in remission. After consulting with doctors we felt it was best to stay aggressive with the treatment to decrease the chances of another relapse and go forward with a stem cell transplant. On March 17 2010 I received an autologous stem cell transplant at the world renown Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. I am now back home in Idaho and striving to live life to the fullest!
